In 1971, McCartney-Ingersoll Rand (later KMT Waterjet) installs the world’s first commercial waterjet system at Alton Box Board Company for cutting cardboard boxes.

1946
Joe McCartney founds McCartney Manufacturing Co. in Baxter Springs, KS
1963
McCartney Manufacturing sold to Ingersoll Rand, maintains the McCartney brand name. Begins experimenting with high pressure intensifiers.
1965
Dr. Norman Franz, attempting to develop a new cutting method for the lumber industry, invents the first waterjet cutting machine – financed and manufactured by McCartney MFG
1971
McCartney-Ingersoll Rand installs the first commercial waterjet system at Alton Box Board Company for cutting cardboard boxes.
1980's
Abrasive waterjet cutting systems become commercially available.
1990's
Ingersoll Rand develops and commercializes industrial waterjet systems – demonstrating that waterjet technology can cut metal and stone with precision, setting off the growth of waterjet systems around the world.
2003
Karolin Machine Tool (KMT), based in Sweden, acquires the waterjet division of Ingersoll Rand. KMT Waterjet Systems was announced as the brand name
2008
KMT manufactures the first Streamline PRO 90,000psi/6.200bar 60hp intensifier pump, a significant advancement from 60,000psi technology.
2011
KMT manufactures the new STREAMLINE PRO Series pumps featuring the PRO 125hp pump, capable of cutting with two cutting nozzles at 90,000psi/6.200bar.
2013
KMT joins Shape Technologies Group.
2015
KMT introduces Global Genuine Service vans to bring technical service closer to the customer.
TODAY
KMT waterjets are sold worldwide, with offices in North, South and Central America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. KMT Global offices are dedicated to advancing waterjet technology.

The impressive facility is AS9100 and ISO9001 approved and is equipped with the latest technology with a variety of CNC machinery.

Their waterjet tables are integrated with seven KMT Waterjet UHP pumps, including four PRO Series 90,000psi pumps.

Daily fabrication includes waterjet cutting various materials like aluminum, stainless steel, rubber, composites, and more.
