KMT Waterjet Abrasive Systems
In the late 1970s, the addition of garnet abrasives to plain waterjet extended the functionality of the process much further than anyone had previously imagined. While water-only works well for cutting softer, lighter materials such as food and paper, abrasive waterjet drastically extends the range of materials that water jet technology can accommodate. This includes everything from marble cutting to cutting metals, tile, aluminum, glass, and more.
It is the abrasive in abrasive waterjet, not the water, which enables steel, bronze, alloy, and granite cutting. However, the addition to abrasive to high pressure water does not compromise a cutting system’s ability to perform detail work. In fact, abrasive waterjet cutting is capable of extreme detailing, as well as cutting both thin and thick materials with little material loss and almost no need for secondary finishing.
The traditional disadvantage of abrasive waterjet is cost, but cutting systems that can regulate the amount of abrasive used in cutting offer an advantage over less precise systems. KMT Waterjet abrasive systems eliminate costly abrasive waste by controlling the flow of the abrasive (more information about this process is provided below) and allowing for maximum system efficiency. For the toughest cutting requirements, choose waterjet systems designed by the experts at KMT Waterjet.
KMT Water jet cutting Abrasive Management Systems for Precision Metering and Efficient Abrasive Use.
Because water jet abrasive is the most expensive part of using waterjet systems, the KMT Waterjet Abrasive Management System is designed to reduce costs through precision control and consistent flow of the abrasive. Waterjet operations consequently save money using water jet cutting systems.
The abrasive is used to aid in the erosion water jet cutting process for steel cutting, stainless steel, granite, stone cutting, tile, wood, aluminum, titanium, brass, and much more.
Both the KMT abrasive water jet Feedline IV Electronic Metering System and the ADS Series Abrasive Hopper will minimize abrasive waste and maximize its use at the abrasive waterjet cutting nozzle.
Our ADS Series Abrasive Hoppers precisely monitor the availability of sufficient abrasive closely during the entire cutting process, are available in 500 & 2,000 lb. sizes, and are easily re-filled during the cutting process---no need to stop cutting!
The Feedline IV Electronic Metering System provides optimized abrasive consumption for customized waterjet cutting applications and supplies the cutting nozzle with a constant metered quantity of abrasive. Without this controlled supply, the mixing chamber for abrasive, air and water would become clogged up. With the FEEDLINE IV, this is effectively prevented.
